Stephen Ovett
Stephen Ovett (* 9. October 1955) is a former British athlete, who won the olympic gold medal over 1500 m 1980 in Moscow and between 1980 and 1983 of five world records set up over 1500 m and the mile.
Ovett was end of the 1970er and at the beginning of the 1980er years the large competitor of its land man Sebastian Coe on the medium ranges 800 m and 1500 M. Although Coe and Ovett were the dominating runners of their time, they met one another between 1972 and 1989 only in seven running, five of it with international championships. Into Grand Prix to running they went out of the way and were limited removing each other remote duels the world records and Weltjahresbestzeiten.
With the olympic plays 1980 in Moscow Ovett won the gold medal over 800 m before the favored Coe, during these the gold medal on Ovetts special distance, which 1500 m got.
