Steve Backley
Steve Backley (* 12. February 1969 in Sidcup) is a former British athlete.
Backley is Speerwerfer and since beginning of the 1990er years in the world point. With the olympic plays 1992 in Barcelona it won the bronze medal with 83,38 m. Afterwards it won the silver medal with each Leichtathletikweltereignis. 1995 with the Leichtathletikweltmeisterschaften in Göteborg, with the olympic plays 1996 in Atlanta, with the world championships 1997 in Athens and with the olympic plays 2000 in Sydney. With the silver medal of Sydney he was the first Britisher, who won three olympic medals in a Leichathletikkonkurrenz with three Olympiads.
Steve Backley participated 2004 in Athens for the fourth time in olympic plays , could reach there however only a fourth place.
Backley was distinguished 1995 with the fifth stage order OF the British Empire (Member, MBE) and 2003 with the fourth stage (Officer, OBE).
