Mike stick, matt Aitken and Pete Waterman, from whose feather/spring end of the 80's and at the beginning of the 90's numerous hits originated, are considered as the most successful British Songschreiber of all times.
Success history began to 15. January 1984, when the former DJ Pete Waterman meets with the two musicians and Songwritern Mike stick and matt Aitken. Waterman had briefly before created only its production company Pete Waterman Limited in the Londoner quarter Camden Town. Mike andAppeared matte with a Song, which the two had written and had produced together with the Keyboarder Pete commodity. The title was called “The Upstroke” and was a rear-NRG - number in the style of Frankie Goes ton of Hollywood's “Relax”. Pete Waterman liked the Song and decidedfor a co-operation with Mike and matte. Proto record published “The Upstroke”, sung of a Girlband named Agents Aren't of airplane. The title became however no hit. But the disk company offered on, the Greek contribution to the three for the Eurovision Song Contest 1984, tooproduce. It concerned the Song “Anni Marie Elena” written and sung of Andy Paul. The title was however rather banal and reached with the Song Contest the last place.
At this time were not yet well-known as stick Aitken Waterman Mike, matte and Pete.On the disk coverings stood at that time still: “Directed by Mike stick and matt Aitken, A Pete Waterman Production”. The Trio had their first hits then in the summer 1984 with the rear-NRG-numbers “You Think You're A one”, sung of the dragee Queen Divine, and “Whatever IDO (Wherever I Go) “, sung of Hazell Dean. Further Singles of Divine and Hazell Dean published, could repeat or not overtrump success however. At the end of the yearly then “ You appeared spin ME Round (Like A record)” by the formation DEAD OrAlive. The Song erklomm gradually the Charts and became finally the first number 1 for the Trio.
Although 1985 further rear-NRG-numbers appeared, SAW with the single proved “Say I'm Your NUMBER One”, sung from Princess, that they write also Soul numbers andto produce could. The sound of the Trios changed itself gradually from rear-NRG to in-usual Popsongs. On the disk coverings stood now: “Produced by stick Aitken Waterman”, mostly still additionally supports from the sentence: “A stick Aitken Waterman Production”.1986 decided the successful Girlgroup Bananarama to oneCo-operation with stick Aitken Waterman. Now the hit machine was in fullerTravel and a Top hit after the other one were published.
Critics criticized that most of their hits of a simple formula followed, i.e. easily distinguishable, einprägsame Synthie Pop - Songs of attractive interpreters sing to let. Stick Aitken Waterman therefore took up in the middle of 1987 a title, “Roadblock”. On the Promo single SAW were not mentioned, the critics were inspired and estimated themselves with praise for the title. As large their surprise may have been, when they experienced, who for the title was responsible.
At the end of of 1987 took the Australian Soap- Darstellerin Kylie Minogue the title “I Should so Lucky” up. Pete Waterman was convinced of a success, but the disk companies were sceptical. Therefore Waterman published the Song with its own label PWL (Pete Waterman Limited). The hit rose at the beginning of of 1988 up toPlace 1 the British Singlecharts. With it began the world career of Kylie Minogue, which obtained 15 Top Ten hit with SAW altogether.1989 produced SAW 23 Singles, from those it only one (“When Love Takes Over You” of Donna buzzer) not into the Top40 created.
1990 showed up then first clouds on the horizon. New ones of music category such as Rave, Techno or Indie penetrated on the market. Therefore SAW continued to work on their sound. Songs from this time, like e.g. Minogues Better The Devil You Know apply today among fansevery now and then as the best publications of the Trios.1991 was then published already drastically less SAW Singles. Many Singles created it only on the rear places of the Charts. Demoralized by this situation, matt Aitken decided to leave the hit factory. Mike and Pete made too secondfurther. Although the two 1992 only 13 Singles published, they had some smaller hits in this year. 1993 looked it in such a way, as if stick and Waterman would experience one Renaissance. But in August 1993 Mike announced stick that he would likewise leave PWL now, since Pete Waterman without its knowledge had sold the entire SAW Songkatalog at BMG music. Thus the co-operation, which had begun scarcely ten years before, was terminated.
Mike stick and matt Aitken united again and created the label Love This, during PeteWaterman until today with other producers co-operates. 2002 withdrew itself matt Aitken from the music industry and Mike stick created the label Better The Devil.
