TEN SING is original a form of music-referred Christian youth work within the CVJM, thosefrom Norway originates and today with groups in Europe, which the USA and the Philippines is represented. In Germany the work covers at present (conditions: 2003) approx. 160 groups with approximately 6000 active young people.

history
in the year 1978 based the minister Kjell Grönner, inspired from the German sing Out at that time - movement the first TEN group of singing. This was originally a youth choir, the contemporaryMusic interpreted and during its meeting also something over the life Jesu experienced.
Since 1986 are TEN SING represented also in Germany. The work is today supraregional interlaced, cross-linking is adapted to those of the CVJMs.
Responsible for TENSING is the CVJM, to which also the rights for the name and the concepts of TEN SING possesses.
The name is derived from the Norwegian terms “tenaringe” and “synge”, to German “dte rodents sings”.
concept
TEN SINGwas meant at the beginning as new missionary aligned youth work, an appropriate understanding is today however any longer compellingly necessary originally, in order with TEN SING to participate or also not cooperate. The main characteristic of TEN SING is that it youth work of young peoplefor young people is. Everyone may try itself out within the many ranges, everyone may bring in themselves and tasks take over. Because the new generation grows fast into the tasks, is quite young many the coworker, whereby the contact between the TEN SINGernand the work is dynamic closely and the taste of the young people is accordingly.
The theoretical concept behind TEN SING was based on three basic columns, to that 3 K model: Culture, creativity, Kristus (Norwegian for Christ). Since approx. 2001 became this basic concept over2 further terms supplemental and into the English language translates. This with the key word 5-C-Modell designated concept is also in Germany guide of the work and contains the components: “Culture, Creativity, Christian, Competence and Care”.

each TENGroup of singing works together on a concert, the group goes through 3 operating phases, in order after usually about one year a stage program to have compiled. Creativity (Creativity) is needed, in order to put into the different Workshops - as a rule volume, dance, drama/theatre, technology - the bases for the concert. Besideeach TEN SINGer in the choir takes part the Workshops, which arranges parts of the program; the regular choir sample is the central group meeting place.
Third “C” (Christian) plays particularly in these samples a role, there there in devotionsChristian faith is discussed. Also the concerts can have a verkündigenden character, then Gospels and mirror-image ritual take larger area in the repertoire of the choirs.
For the stabilization the coworker and group members strengthened specialized advanced training are offered to the authority (Competence),among them the Germany-far Dasselseminar, in addition, of individual regions organized smaller, into which they attain technical authority within the different ranges necessary for the work.
An important fundamental role in TEN SING groups plays the social structure. Under the term Care are summarized community and mutual assistance, in addition, Seelsorge and company of the group by older members.
The structure of a TEN group of singing is not always alike, each group has its characteristics. However it gives beside the Grundworkshops for the showan organ responsible for the organization, wordurch a similarity to determine leaves itself. The basic idea with TEN SING is: In each young person creativity is, to everyone is somewhat thought capable of. As it/it expresses, can be very different.TEN SING promotes self-confident its and - trust and wake musical and other abilities in young people, who could not do such before. Beyond that the group feeling and the “Care” element can be even in difficulties a large assistance in the life of the young people.
Workshops and team
TEN SING are divided into 4 Hauptworkshops, choir, volume, dance and drama, which are to represent in each functioning group and be seen with a concert. In addition still come depending upon interests and abilities of the group membersfurther teams, like z. B. Mini choir, BREAK thanks, Design (for T-Shirts and posters), devotion team, on-line team uvm. To be gathered and coordinated the activities of the group in an organization/program/line team, in which 1-2 representatives from each team/Workshop sit. This team leads the group togetherand the power of decision has.
organization
the group becomes to a large extent of older TEN SINGern (approx. 16-20 years) organized, the leader functions hold. Younger TEN SINGer (approx. 13-16 years), which notice first more the group experience, learn, to take responsibility andgrow into these. Older TEN SINGer, which grew out of from the group work, engages itself often further, i.e. not only in the further company of the group, but also in the organization and execution of seminars, projects and festivals on regional,country wide and European-wide level. Since TEN SING youth work of the CVJM is, the organization runs similar. However the work is not strictly bound at defaults and decisions, since the self implementation of the group and the personal development are the center of attention nowadays.
From this musical youth work also already some successful musicians followed, as for instance the bassist of Reamonn or the group silver moon.
