history
the today's Tabletopspiele are advancements of the war game in such a way specified, at the beginning 19. Century one sketched by baron von Reisswitz, in order to train Prussian officers in strategy questions.
rules
with a very much complicated system of rules are tried to convert if possible all aspects of an actual battle in the play. Thus the moral of the troop, pro and cons of area and equipment as well as units with special abilities and tactics becomes how in many Tabletops Phalanx, Plänkler, Kavallerie and naturally the characteristics of the different weapons control converted. A compromise between complicated, realistic rules and simple, abstract rules must be always found. Herein also the fundamental difference of the different monitoring systems lies.
The most common Tabletopspiele (in Germany) is nowadaysin Fantasy worlds embedded and have therefore pretty often rules, which are concerned with magic. These rules are usually very complicated, since an inaccuracy can lead here fast to an imbalance in the play. Beside the Fantasy Tabletops it in addition, some Tabletops gives, to historicalBackground were embedded (e.g. Being hammer Ancient Battles, only in English language available). Here there is play from the antiquity to the modern times in 40. Millenium (being hammer 40,000, Epic 40,000), but these systems are, at least in Germany, not as far common as Fantasy systems, however alsothe Science Fiction systems a strong competition have.
Control most actions are determined over cube throws. Many systems use W6, W10 or W20. However there are also systems, which are played by (Poker) maps. Generally the tendency is to be recognized that differentPlay elements to be linked with one another.
there
are yardsticks the figures of Tabletops in different sizes and yardsticks. The yardsticks 6 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, 25 mm, 28 mm and 54 mm are most well-known. The number of mm gives the size of an average people modelin millimeters on. With classical figures with it however also the height of the miniature of the soil up to the eyes can be meant, since most historical miniatures carry head coverages, which could lead to an inaccurate statement of size. The 6-mm, 10-mm and 15-mm-Massstab become mostly for historicalTabletops used, while the 25-mm and the 28-mm-Massstab for nearly all Fantasy - and Science Fiction - Tabletops are used, since it a higher detailingness of the figures made possible and the individual model becomes rather fair as the smaller yardsticks, with those models mostly in groups together upa space occupied (regiment cousin) to be platziert. In some cases the yardstick is indicated directly. Like that Classic BattleTech is a 1:275 it Tabletop play.
the smaller yardsticks are used almost exclusively in order to represent battles between armies. 25-mm-Tabletops divide however stillonce into normal and in ski-mix Tabletops and/or. numerous intermediate ranges up.
collecting miniature plays

Also there is a collecting tank market, which does not concentrate on old, any more produced miniatures.
