Taman Negara
Taman Negara is a national park in Malaysia and with its 130 million years old tropical jungle the oldest forest area of the earth. Under the influence of ice ages, climatic fluctuations or changes of the sea level many parts of the world changed, but on the Malaii peninsula conditions remained relatively stable and the animal - and plant world could develop without larger disturbances.
The name Taman Negara is malaiisch and is called translated “national park”. Since 1938/39 the three Federal States Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu educate ² large king George V. to 4343 km.- National park, the oldest in Malaysia. They issued to a large extent similar laws, which placed the jungle under protection.

the climate is all year round tropical, with high air humidity. In the central region the area of mountains is pulled through at the edge is hilly it. Numerous rivers rise in the mountain regions. With 2187 meters the Gunung Tahan is highest. In the south some rivers flow into the brown colored Sungai Tembeling, largest river - the system of the peninsula, whose process forms also a part of the border.
The vegetation is adapted depending upon altitude. In the rain forest the asiatic elephant, Panther , the Schabrackentapir , wild pigs , apes live, in addition, partially also of becoming extinct threatened animals like the Malaysia tiger or the Sumatra Nashorn. Over 600 kinds of bird, 1000 different butterflies were counted. Termites, spiders, beetles and other insects live in large varieties into the nature reservation.
Except a few Orang Asli settlements is uninhabited the area. In Kuala Tahan is the only Firstclass the Tropics - hotel and small Bungalowanlagen, mainly baking packmen. There the dark, with humus enriched , Sungai Tahan flows in the Sungai Tembeling.
