history
the TUM became 1868 by king Ludwig II. as poly-technical school basedand starting from 1877 officially as royal Bavarian technical university Munich marks. Renaming of TH in DO took place to 1970.

The TUM possesses 10 partial libraries due to the division in the three locations, but no Zentralbibliothek in the conventional sense.
Campus & student life
the TUM is no Campusuniversität. From the three main locations possesses only freesing - Weihenstephan a correct Campus. However, that is plannedTo develop campus in Garching to a Campus with student hostels. In addition presumably in October 2006 the extension of the underground - line U6 up to the Campus Garching will be final.
Rankings
