Tegla Loroupe
Tegla Loroupe (* 9. May 1973 in Kapsait, Kenya), Kenyan light athlete, who set up a new world best performance in the Marathon in the context of the Berlin Marathons 1999 (2: 20: 47 h). The moreover one it holds the current world records in the hour run and over 20.000 m, 25,000 m and 30,000 M.
Tegla Loroupe buildup with 24 brothers and sisters, their father had five women. It began with running, by running starting from the age from seven years in the morning 10 km to the school and in the afternoon again home. It began to participate also in its school time in school matches. Loroupe was quite successful over 800 m and 1500 m and with this running was discovered. She got support from her family only from their nut/mother.
The Kenyan athlete IC federation did not promote it first, but after their victory with an important CROSS run this changed. Their first Marathon ran Loroupe 1994 in New York. It landed the high point of its career with a new world best performance 1999 with the Berlin Marathon. With the olympic plays 2000 in Sydney it started over 10.000 m and in the marathon race, was not however in both disciplines not successful.
