Terek

of the Terek (Georgian თერგი, Tergi; Russian Терек) is a river at the northeast edge of the Caucasus.

The Terek rises from a glacier at the 5,037 meters high Kasbek generally speaking Caucasus in the northern Georgien. It flowsfirst northward by the Darielpass to Russia inside. Behind the nordossetischen capital Wladikawkas it turns eastward, flows themselves by Chechnya and Dagestan. There it divides into two arms, which flow into the Kaspi sea. With Kisljar it forms a swampyRiver delta, which is 100 kilometers wide.

With approximately 600 kilometers length is the Terek of one of the largest rivers in the Caucasus. At its underflow it serves the irrigation, at the upper run the enterprise of hydro-electric power plants.

The Russian soccer association Terek Grosny is designated after the river.
