Timothy Manning

Timothy cardinal Manning (* 15. November 1909 in Ballingeary, Ireland; † 23. June 1989 in Los Angeles, the USA) was archbishop of Los Angeles.

life

Timothy Manning studied the fan catholic theology and philosophy in Menlo park , California and Rome and became to 16. June 1934 in Los Angeles to the priest geweiht. According to resuming studies he worked in the years 1936 to 1938 as a municipality priest in Los Angeles. From 1938 to 1946 he was a personal secretary of the archbishop of Los Angeles. Subsequently, it worked again in the Gemeindeseelsorge. 1946 appointed it Pope Pius XII. as the Titularbischof of Lesvi and bishop in the ore diocese Los Angeles and its bishop appointed it as the chancellor of the Erzdiözese. Starting from 1955 Timothy Manning led the administration ore diocese of the Los Angeles besides as Generalvikar. 1967 it became by Pope Paul VI. appointed the bishop , 1969 him Paul VI. determined von Fresno. to the Titularerzbischof of Capreae and Koadjutor - archbishop of the ore diocese Los Angeles, its line Manning to 21.
