Clay/tone system
the frequency range perceptible of the human hearing is divided in the music into clearly distinguishable tones, of which the clay/tone system composes itself.
Surely all music cultures a common characteristic is the feeling of the Oktave, thus the frequency relationship 1:2, as direct relationshipand therefore most standing out arrangement (see.Tonigkeit). Depending upon clay/tone system the individual Oktavraum or Oktavstreifen is however differently partitioned.
In the western abendländischen music the Oktave is into twelve half-tones divided, those accurate depending upon tendency system (frequency relationship of 1: 2^(1/12)) or at least more or less equally large is.
Other clay/tone systems:
- Pentatonik
- Vierteltönigkeit
- clay/tone system around the year 1000
- earlyGreek Aulos modes
from the tones of a clay/tone system can be constructed different scales.
