history
the football applies in the Ukraine as the most popular kind of sport. The still young Ukrainian football crew developed only after the decay of the USSR, in which Ukrainian soccer players and associations had played a prominent role. After 1991 many ukrainischstämmige players accepted the Russian nationality, because they saw better career possibilities for itself in Russia, for example Wiktor Onopko, Sergei Juran or Oleg Salenko, the goal scorer king of the WM 1994. Due to this development the traditionally strong football Ukraine had to get over a lack of good players in the first existence years of its national team first. Also all points at that time of the USSR went into the UEFA - five-yearly valuation and with the FIFA alone at Russia.
With the time the Ukrainian crew continued to increase, it arose new talents such as Andrij Schewtschenko or Serhij Rebrow , which had trained the coach legend Waleri Lobanowski as world class soccer players. To the participation in a world or an European championship however for a long time the necessary luck was missing, because the crew failed three times in succession in the Playoffs (against Croatia 1998, against Slovenia 2000 and against Germany 2002.
After the missed qualification for the football European championship 2004 the former soccer player of the yearly of Europe Oleg Blochin for the post of the national coach was nominated. This step proved as correct, because the Ukraine played afterwards to it in a difficult group sovereigns a qualification round for the soccer world championship 2006 and created at the 3. September 2005 as the group first for the first time in its history the qualification for the final round of a large tournament.
