Urbana (Illinois)
Urbana in the US Federal State Illinois was created 1833. The city had 2000 36,395 inhabitants in the census. It is seat of the district administration of Champaign County (Illinois) and together with the neighbouring city Champaign seat of the Hauptcampus of the University OF Illinois. The Bürgermeisterin, Laurel Prussing, was selected 2004 as a successor of death Satterthwaite for one term of office of four years. The city has a strong majority for the democrats with most elections, favoured by the influence of the university. The city lies with 40°6'35 " north, 88°12'15 " west and has a surface of 27,2 km ².
