of the Utahsee is the largest fresh water lake US Federal State of the Utah. It lies south of salt Lake town center in the northeast part of the large basin and has a water surface of 390 km ². Over the river Jordan it flows off into the large salt lake .
The sea which was because of the foot of the Wasatchkette is approximately 39 km long, up to 18 km broad and with less than 3 meters not very deep. Water is supplied to it by the mountains by way of many small brooks, while it runs off in the north into the large salt lake. Seasonally large alga blooms on the lake , which mixed themselves in the past steel plant in the meantime any longer not existing on the eastern bank of the lake with industriellen supplies one, form.
In particular the swampy areas at the Südzipfel of the lake as well as the area at the delta of the Provo serve many migratory birds, like pelicans, in the spring and the late autumn months geese and herons, as lay-by.
The Utahsee is appropriate for designated state park in one after the lake and is a popular trip goal for water sportsmen and anglers. During the winter months the lake freezes temporarily to and permits winter sports activities such as ice skate running.
