Traffic system
as traffic system one designates a closed or open system for the change of location of goods, persons and messages. It covers a certain quantity linked functionally with one another of components, which are defined after certain characteristics from the whole of all resources existing in the traffic.The demarcation takes place z. B. on the basis of spatial, temporal, technical, organizational, political, legal or operational criteria and serves the simplification of handling the complex structures of the traffic. The isolated view of a traffic system under neglect of the system environment can to incorrect conclusionslead.
The terms branch of traffic/ Verkehrsträger and traffic system are frequently synonymously used. That can lead however to misunderstandings: One can define a traffic system in such a way that it a Verkehrsträger enclosure (see their definition!). But a traffic system can be defined also in such a way,that it only parts of a Verkehrsträgers (z. B. Road haulage) or also several Verkehrsträger to cover can (z. B. European traffic system).
