January 2005 from the fusion of the 8 municipalities of the dissolved central administrative body Elb Havel country and the 6 municipalities of the dissolved central administrative body beautiful living (Elbe) (the before times independent municipalities Garz, Kuhlhhausen and Warnau were integrated at the same time after Havelberg). The seat of the central administrative body is in the municipality beautiful living (Elbe).
