a word (v. lat.: vocabulum = designation, designation) is an individual word term in a foreign language.

For learning a foreign language it is essential to acquire itself an extensive vocabulary at words. The basic vocabulary of a language requires usually the knowledge of approximately 2000 words.

For looking up the meaning of words one uses dictionaries.
