of waiting castle lies approx. 12 km southeast from Luther city joke mountain at the Elbe. The municipality belongs to the central administrative body Kemberg , which has its administrative seat in the city Kemberg.

history

1176 was mentioned documentary for the first time the municipality as Wardenberch. The place became famous by combat and the successful Elbüberquerung of the Prussian and Russian troops under the general Yorck of waiting castle in the wars of liberation 1813. The general thereupon the “honour title lent count von Wartenburg”.
