Wassili Wassiljewitsch Smyslow
Wassili Wassiljewitsch Smyslow (Russian ВасилийВасильевичСмыслов, wiss. Transliteration Vasilij Vasil'evič Smyslov; * 24. March 1921 in Moscow) is Russian chess - a large master and the 7. Chess world champion.
to 1958 it was appropriate for Wassili Smyslowwith Mikhail Botwinnik in the contest around the title of the chess world champion. 1948 it became with the WM-tournament second behind offering vienna NIC. 1954 ended their match with an undecided (12-12). 1957 could conquer Smyslow the WM-title (6 victories, 3 defeats, 13 undecided), lost it however 1958 again (5Victories, 7 defeats, 11 undecided).
Still more than 25 years later it ranked among the best players of the world. 1984 it was involved the candidate matches, it lost however against the rising Garri Kasparow. 1991 won Smyslow in bath Wörishofen the for the first time deliveredSenior world championship.
It was particularly in the final game very strong and wrote also some final game studies.
Its current Elo number is 2494 (conditions October 2005). Its best historical Elo number amounted to 2800, which it reached in September 1956.
Smyslow is married with Nadjeschda Smyslowa.
