Weiningen is a municipality in the district Dietikon of the canton Zurich in Switzerland.

geography
the municipality Weiningen is on the right of the Limmat and is divided into the following two parts: Weiningen village and Weiningen Fahrweid. The municipality is particularly admits for its extensive wine cultivation surfaces (approx. 30 hectars), which extend over the entire Hanglage of the municipality (see also for this viticulture in Switzerland). Contrary to other municipalities of the district Dietikon Weiningen has a clearly rural character, which particularly expresses itself in the building method of the village. To Weiningen also the local part landing gear oath belongs. From the municipality surface 32,5% are agricultural effective areas, 38,1% are forest, 8,1% are settlement surface and 11,5% serve traffic, 0,2% are waters.

the SVP have 42,3%, the FR 21,4%, the FDP 18,8%, the Green 5,7%, the CVP 4,9%, and the EVP 2,1% of the votes.
Municipality president is Hanspeter Haug (SVP).
