Neighbouring districtsthe district pouring, the bird mountain circle , is the Main Kinzig circle, the circle-free city Frankfurt/Main, the Hochtaunuskreis and the Lahn Dill circle.

Geografie
name-giving for the circle the landscape Wetterau , north of Frankfurt/Main, is one of the most productive field landscapes of Hessen. This is again designated after the river weather. In the west still the Ausläufer rises up of the Taunus into the circle area. Here are numerous mineral and Thermalquellen (bath Nauheim, Nidda bath salt living, bath Vilbel). In the east of the circle the Ronneburger hill country leads bird mountain to the Ausläufern .

thosefruitful level of the Wetterau between Taunus and bird mountain was always an important passage road from north to south. Thus also the Main Weser course took this way as the first railway between Kassel and Frankfurt. It is 1850 from Frankfurt over Friedbergopened to Butzbach and 1851 further after long Göns. The circle area belonged at that time to Hessen darmstadt up to the cure-hessian bath Nauheim, which only 1866 was added.
At the edge of the bird mountain 1870 a further north south distance of pouring over Nidda developed -Le things after gel living, which was built by the first private upperhessian railway company and included with these 1876 into the hessian state railway.
For the evasion Frankfurt area builds the Prussian state railway a direct connection from Hanau to Friedberg, the 1881 with thatStage starting from hero katabatic wind corners was completed.
The hessian state railway began to open the bird mountain with two pass courses from Nidda to Scots and from stick home for 1888 to Gedern, about which the latter 1906 to Grebenhain Crainfeld extend and so to a cross connection to loud brookone developed.
To the most important course junction developed the district town Friedberg, which is served today by Interregiozügen.
To the three existing railways from Friedberg to Frankfurt, pouring and Hanau were still added: 1897 the secondary lines after Hungen and Nidda, toBeienheim the same route use, and main course established Wiesbaden to 1901 in the course of the bath course Nauheim - Homburg - after Friedrichsdorf.
Beside Nidda also stick home became a junction; from here the Niddertalbahn continued to begin 1905 to hero katabatic wind corners and 1907 to bathVilbel at the Main Weser course.
Finally the private Butzbach Licher railway AG, a daughter of the company Lenz & Co GmbH, completed the railway system by the courses, which proceeded from Butzbach:
- 1904 Butzbach west - Butzbach east - Griedel - Lich
- 1910 Griedel - skirt mountain - bath Nauheim
- 1910 Butzbach east - Oberkleen.
By the circle area the federal motorways A 5 Frankfurt Kassel and A lead 45 Dortmund Aschaffenburg. Furthermore several federal highways and circle roads open the circle area, under it B 3, those B 275, B 457 and B 521.
history
the circle area was splintered in the course of history into numerous rule areas. The most important of it were the land counts of Hessen (later both hessian regions), the countsof Solms and Ysenburg, the ore diocese Mainz and the free realm city Friedberg. At the latest since that 19. Century belonged the today's circle area to the Grand Duchy of Hessen, which formed the two circles Friedberg and le things within the province upper Hessen. Within the framework thathessian circle reform reached both districts the 1. August 1972 to the “Wetteraukreis” combines. District town became Friedberg (Hessen) , since the city lies relatively central in the circle area. Today bath Vilbel is the largest city in the Wetteraukreis with 30290 inhabitants (conditions at the end of of 2002).

The realm eagle stands for the realm country Wetterau, thatup to the Middle Ages and/or for the formerly free realm city Friedberg existed. The red bars are the symbol of the counts von Isenburg Büdingen, those the eastern circle area controlled and the blue wave bar symbolize the river weather and are thereby „a talking “symbol.
