William resounding wax
William Ludwig Franz resounding wax (* 9. July 1859 in Darmstadt; † 20. June 1922 in Dresden) was a German physicist.
Resounding wax was a pupil of Heinrich Rudolf Hertz. 1886 had discovered these the outside photoelectric effect. Resounding wax continued the hertzschen investigations 1887 . Due to its results the outside photoelectric effect long time was designated as photoemissive effect.
With the investigation of the photoelectric effect it put the foundation-stone for the development of the photoelectric cell, the photoelectricity as well as the light quantum hypothesis of Albert Einstein (see also for this photon).
