Ventromedial nucleus

The ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (sometimes referred to as the ventromedial hypothalamus) has two parts; The superior and anterior parts. The superior part of the ventromedial hypothalamus is responsible for satiety. This means if it is taken out of an animal, the animal will overeat because there is nothing telling the body that the animal is satisfied. The anterior part is responsible for the female sexual drive.
