? (tiny ?) is one additional letter who was used in various Latin orthographies of Turkish languages, like tatar. All these orthographies are from now on obsolete. It can always be seen on banknotes issued by People's Republic of China before 1983.

In the alphabetical order, it is placed between G and it H.

Linguistics

? generally represent one voiced velar fricative consonant ([? ] inInternational Phonetic Alphabet), but is sometimes used for one voiced uvular fricative consonant ([?]).

Because of its obsolescence, the police forces allowing to post this letter are rare. It has the representations however Unicode following:

  • Capital? : U+01A2 ;
  • Tiny? : U+01A3.

This letter in addition was incorrectly labellée LATIN LETTER OI byISO, although its typography is based on that of Q.
