Captain
Captain, of Latin caput, capitis, head is it military rank highest of officers subordinates.
The expression large captain appoint the big bosses of war, whatever were their ranks or their titles.
The term is also employed captain in marine commercial.

In the French Army

Currently, the term of captain (Ground, air, gendarmerie) corresponds to the rank of Lieutenant in the navy. Whatever the weapon, the captain generally has charges a troop of it of 100 to 150 men approximately. This troop can take following names:
- Battery: Army (artillery),
- Company: Army, Gendarmerie,
- Squadron: Army (cavalry), Air Force (not flying personnel),
- Flotilla: Air Force (flying personnel).
These unit are known as elementary. The captain is the first officer to have an official command. It has the prerogatives of them, in particular as regards notation as of the its subordinates (except officers).
