Distant Oceania (in English Remote Oceania) is a geographical area of of which the concept is of recent appearance and tends from now on to replace the traditional subdivisions (, and ) of this area whose scientific relevance is constestée. It is a concept created by linguists in the Seventies and then taken again by the geographers and the historians of this area.
It includes/understands the whole of the zones of Oceania which do not form part of.
