One situation comedy (sitcom or situation comedy are Anglicisms) is one with dominant humorous, characterized by limited means of turning involving a low number of decorations with few outsides, and, is often synonymous with poor scenarios. The episodes of the situation comedies last generally approximately 20 minutes (even 30 in certain countries).

With The United States, the normal format of a situation comedy is 22 minutes. This format makes it possible the chain to fix over 30 minutes not less than 8 minutes of publicity which cuts three times the episode (only once in France on the private chains). Among the most known situation comedies appear , Married, two children, Will and Grace or Joey and My uncle Charlie.
