Synaptic
Synaptic is one proposing one interface graphic facilitating the management of the installation, the update and the desinstallation of the software. Its operation is based on the manager of packages , specific of / . Thanks to the interface apt4rpm, Synaptic also functions for the majority of the distributions based on the packages RPM, like Mandriva, RedHat/, and Conectiva who carried APT with RPM.
Writing originally by Alfredo K. Kojima then begun again thereafter by Michael Vogt and Gustavo Niemeyer, Synaptic is based on the graphic library (version 2.2 in June 2004). However, at the price of a recompiling, it can use a lighter environment, like the library WING of WindowMaker.
